Every session, and who is taking it
Days across, times down. Filter by what you want, look at the spaces left out of eight, and pick the one that fits round your work. Choosing a session carries it to the booking form.
- Coached sessions
- Nineteen a week
- Open gym
- Twenty hours, members only
- Cap
- Eight on every coached slot
- Booking opens
- Saturday 08:00, a week ahead
Spaces are the ones showing when the door opened this morning. If a session says full, ring anyway: something drops out most afternoons and the waitlist rarely gets past two.
Session types
- Foundations
The beginner course. Six weeks, same eight people, same coach, no class you can turn up late to.
- Barbell
Squat, deadlift, press, row. A written programme on a card, a coach who moves between four platforms.
- Conditioning
Kettlebells, carries, sled and four minutes on a rower at the end. Hard, short, and it is not a dance class.
- Open gym
Members only, no coach on the floor, your own programme. The door code changes monthly.
The four rules, and there are only four
- Booking opens
- Saturday 08:00 for the week after. Members book from the door code page, everyone else rings or emails.
- Cancelling
- Four hours before the session and it costs nothing. Inside four hours the space is gone and we charge nobody, because chasing three pounds is not worth anybody’s Tuesday.
- Being late
- The warm up is the part that stops you getting hurt, so the door shuts five minutes after the start and you go on the next one.
- The cap
- Eight. Not nine, not eight and a friend, not a second bar off the same coach.
What is actually in it
- Four lifting platforms and four racks. That is the constraint, and it is why eight is the number.
- Ten bars: six 20 kg, four 15 kg, all of them chalked and none of them bent.
- Calibrated plates to 260 kg on a bar, bumpers for anything that gets dropped.
- Kettlebells 8 kg to 48 kg, two sleds, a loading pin and a pile of chalk that gets swept at 20:30.
- Two rowers. They are for the last four minutes of a conditioning class and nothing else.
- A defibrillator on the brick by the door. Everyone coaching holds a current first aid certificate.
And what is not
- No treadmills, steppers or bikes.
- No mirrors. The wall is painted so you stop looking for one.
- No sauna, no smoothie bar, no app.
- No twelve month contract at a lower monthly price.

- The unit
- A railway arch, brick, about 180 square metres, with a roller door that is up from May to September and firmly down from October.
- In winter
- Two gas heaters and a longer warm up. It is a railway arch in Glasgow and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
- Changing
- One changing room, two showers, no lockers worth stealing from. Most people arrive changed and go home to shower.
- The floor
- Rubber over concrete, swept at 20:30, and the chalk stays on the bars where it belongs.

Not sure which one to book?
If you have not lifted with a barbell in the last two years, book Foundations and stop reading the timetable. If you have, come to an open gym hour, lift in front of whoever is about for twenty minutes, and we will tell you honestly which class you belong in.
